Some of these attacks are small like in 2019 when a small city in north Florida had its computer systems and data held ransom by a ransomware attack in which the town of Lake City Florida ended up paying $460,000 in Bitcoin to gain access to their data (Mazzei, 2019). Other attacks we hear about are so massive that the aftermath resulted in the passing of new legislation and governmental oversite in an attempt to prevent such an attack from happening again. In this paper I’m going to outline just a few different types of cyber-attacks that have been happening over the past few years.
